Maria Zakharova: The threat of sanctions against Georgian companies by the USA is an interference in the relations of two sovereign states and an undisguised pressure

The threat of sanctions against Georgian companies by the USA is an interference in the relations of two sovereign states and an undisguised pressure, - spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova, said.

According to her, the statements by the US Department of State that due to the restoration of direct air traffic between Georgia and Russia, the companies operating in Georgian airports may be bankrupted, are interference in the relations of two sovereign states and undisguised pressure.

"There can be no other qualification. We consider such mentoring statements by Washington to be interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states and their relations with third countries and undisguised pressure," Zakharova said.

She said there could be no "sane explanation" for the US comments.

"If the US puts human rights as the cornerstone of its policy everywhere, then perhaps in this particular humanitarian situation, it should be guided by human rights. There is nothing more difficult than to cross the border of two countries, with which you had close ties, including kinship and humanitarian ones, without direct air traffic for a long time," said Zakharova.
