In the III quarter of 2023, the number of arrivals of international non-resident travellers in the territory of Georgia equaled 2.7 million, which is 19.4 percent higher compared to the data from the same period of the previous year. Most of the incomes, 42.5 percent, were made by travellers of 31-50 age group, the Georgian National Statistics Service (GeoStat) reported.
The number of visits by international visitors from the above-mentioned number made up 2.3 million, which is 21.0 percent higher compared to the data from the same period of 2022.
74.5 percent of international visitors were only tourists. The share of excursionists amounted to 21.8 percent, while 3.7 percent of visitors were both tourists and same-day visitors.
In III quarter of 2023 the largest number of visitors (478.4 thousand visitors) was from the Russian Federation, which amounts to 24.4 percent of the total number of visitors. On second place is Turkey with 21.3% share and on third place – Armenia with 12.9% share. Correspondingly, the largest number of visits were made by the citizens of the Russian Federation (571.4 thousand), Turkey (498.9 thousand) and Armenia (339.0 thousand).
The majority of visitors (46.5 percent) belonged to the age group of 31-50 years. The number of women equalled to 46.0 percent of the total number of visitors.
In III quarter of 2023, the purpose of the majority of visits (58.9 percent) was holiday, leisure and recreation.
The majority of visits come on Adjara A/R and Tbilisi, 1 174.7 thousand and 1 081.9 thousand accordingly. The chart below illustrates the distribution of visits by the visited regions.
In III quarter of 2023, the average number of nights spent during the visits equalled to 5.8 nights, which is 14.7 percent lower than the figure indicated in III quarter of 2022 (6.8 nights). 67.5 percent of visits was repeating visit. The chart below shows the distribution of visits by the level of satisfaction in III quarter of 2023.
The expenditures during the visits made in III quarter of 2023 equalled to 4.8 billion GEL, which is 7.3 percent higher compared to the data from the same period of the previous year. Average expenditure on the visit decreased by 11.3 percent compared to III quarter of 2022 and amounted to 2 105.8 GEL.
