The State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of Germany, Sven Giegold, will visit Georgia on May 7 and hold meetings related to issues of economic policy and EU policy. A delegation of German private companies is coming to Georgia together with him.
According to the information of the German Embassy, the State Secretary will hold meetings with the delegation at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and civil society organizations.
During the meetings the parties will talk about Georgia's efforts to get closer to the European Union, Germany's support and related reforms, as well as topics such as tourism, trade and investments (e.g. air traffic, payment operations, roaming).
The delegation will also visit Georgian private companies and talk about bilateral projects.
According to the information released by the embassy, with this visit, Sven Giegold wants to show special support to Georgia on its way to the European Union.
"Georgia must now keep the course and take swift steps to implement the agreed reforms. Georgian society is ready for the European Union. Georgia is an important partner for us in the South Caucasus. We would like to further intensify bilateral economic relations. The German federal government strengthens German companies in their activities in the region and thus gives a positive impetus to the implementation of reforms in the process of joining the European Union", said Sven Giegold.
According to the German Embassy, the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action helps Georgia with trade and investment instruments (export credit guarantees, investment guarantees, EU twinning projects, partnership in the administrative field, Business Partnership with Germany program).
"Within the market expansion program for small and medium-sized businesses, small and medium-sized companies are supported in entering the foreign market.
We support Georgia's participation in the EU engagement initiative," reads the information.
