“Saperavi: A Noble, World-Class Grape Variety,” writes the American wine magazine Wine Enthusiast, promoting Georgian wine based on the partnership initiated between the magazine and the National Wine Agency in 2023 and continued in 2024.
At the initiative of the National Wine Agency, the May edition of the online magazine is devoted to an in-depth exploration of Saperavi.
„Saperavi – wine made from one of the world’s oldest grape varieties is the fastest growing category of imported wines in America since the CBS program “60 Minutes” dedicated show program to Georgia, the homeland of wine; Furthermore, taking into account the rising popularity of Georgian cuisine in the USA (as evidenced by The New York Times listing the Georgian restaurant “Chama Mama” among the top 100 restaurants in 2024), it is plausible that Saperavi will experience a surge in popularity in the near future…. When you raise a glass of Saperavi, you not only savor its exquisite aromas, but also indulge in 8,000 years of rich history that persists to this day,” says the article.
The article elaborates on the historical origins of Saperavi, its distinctive varietal characteristics, the pivotal role it plays in the present-day wine industry, and its potential for growth in the global wine market.
As part of the campaign, last year, the renowned magazine Wine Enthusiast published an article titled “Get to Know Georgia: The Birthplace of Wine.”
In 2024, “Wine Enthusiast” will be launching a comprehensive advertising and marketing campaign to promote Georgian wine across various platforms, including print and online publications.
Wine Enthusiast” was founded in 1979; Today, it stands as one of the most esteemed wine magazines and online wine media platforms in the US market, boasting an impressive audience of 5 million.
It is worth noting that the United States is a strategic market for Georgian wine, wherein significant emphasis is placed on the promotion of Georgian wine. In addition to showcasing Georgian wine through presentations, tastings, and international exhibitions, the National Wine Agency provided both financial and organizational support for a media campaign in the USA.
An advertising clip was prepared for the broadcasting of CNN, one of the highest-rated TV broadcasters in the USA. Additionally, CBS produced an extensive story about Georgian wine called “Ancient Vines”, Image articles are published in a wide range of print and electronic publications, such as CNN, The Wall Street Journal, Men’s Journal, Imbibe, Wine-Searcher, SOMM TV, Forbes, and Wine Enthusiast.
