Cost of first phase for Poti deep-sea port construction is USD 250 million

The construction of a new deep-sea port is starting in the city of Poti. The cost of the first phase of the project is USD 250 million, Poti City Hall has reported. The permit is issued by the Technical Supervision Agency of the Ministry of Economy of Georgia. A new protective structure with a length of 1,640 meters and a 700 m long deep-see dock will be built. The new deep-see port will be able to provide additional processing of 9 million tons of bulk / general cargo and 500,000 TEU per year. The construction of the Poti port began 160 years ago, it is the largest-scale project that has been implemented in the city of Poti since that time. The construction of the new port will be carried out through the European investment. The innovation is important both for the development of the city and the economy of the country, and in terms of new jobs, Poti City Hall said.
