FM says Foreign Ministry prepares topics for discussion for President during her official visits

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs prepares topics for discussion for any official, who leaves on an official visit, Foreign Minister of Georgia Davit Zalkaliani said responding to the question about President Salome Zurabishvili’s visit to Azerbaijan. Journalists asked whether the President was informed about the topics of discussion and whether her remarks were agreed with the Foreign Ministry or not. This is really a very sensitive issue and excessive speculation over these issues is harmful. Therefore, it’s necessary the Commission to be given the possibility to work under normal conditions. The issue of delimitation is permanently on the agenda of the Georgian-Azerbaijani bilateral relations. When we look at the bilateral relations, there is a whole list, and naturally, the issue of resumption of the work of the delimitation commission is one of the important directions on the agenda of the bilateral relations. Since the work of the Delimitation Commission has been suspended in recent years, this issue was included in the material for discussion, prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for senior officials of Georgia during their visits, in this case, to Azerbaijan. Regardless of the official work of the Commission, we constantly discussed this topic during our bilateral meetings. As you know, the renewed commission has resumed its work. It is fine that both sides have the political will to continue their activity within the Commission, said FM Zalkaliani. The Foreign Minister explains that when the President leaves on an official visit, the Foreign Ministry provides her with the topics of discussion. source: IPN/ interpressnews.ge
