Georgian PM discusses ties, Tbilisi’s EU aspirations with new Swedish Ambassador

28.11.23 16:35

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Tuesday discussed bilateral cooperation and his country’s progress on its European integration path with Anna Lyberg, the newly appointed Ambassador of Sweden to Georgia.

The discussion at the Government's Tbilisi office was focused on the European Commission’s positive recommendation to the European Council earlier this month on granting Georgia the bloc’s membership candidate status next month, the Government press office said.

The Government head briefed the diplomat about his office’s efforts, completed and ongoing reforms to ensure the country’s alignment with the bloc and its legal framework.

He also highlighted the importance of the Council’s decision on the status and Sweden’s support for Georgia’s EU integration.
