Questions arise about how the Ministry of Internal Affairs managed to obtain up to 70 videos and question dozens of witnesses in less than two days, - Beka Takalandze, a lawyer of the family of the late cameramanof TV Pirveli, Lekso Lashkarava, told InterPressNews.
It is unclear to the lawyer why the Ministry of Internal Affairs released video footage showing Lekso Lashkarava's route of movement until the publication of a forensic examination report. According to Takalandze, the dissemination of specific data at the expense of discrediting a person cannot be justified by high public interest.
"The Ministry of Internal Affairs points to the evidence in the case, however, I do not know how it was obtained and attached to the criminal case. If I have the opportunity to access the case materials, I will assess the situation in more detail, but I cannot assess anything superficially now.
Questions arise about how the Ministry of Internal Affairs managed to obtain up to 70 videos and question dozens of witnesses in less than two days. This is unbelievable, however, I wonder what the evidence they have and hopefully I will be given access to the materials”, said the lawyer.
According to him, by spreading videos, the authorities wanted to pre-form public opinion and discredit the person. “It is not clear why the overdose version has been considered from the very beginning. Are they trying to somehow delete the traces of injuries related to July 5?” said Takalandze.
Asked if we could assume that Lekso Lashkarava might be under surveillance, the lawyer said he "could not rule anything out."
