According to the survey conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI), 64% of the surveyed citizens hold the Georgian government/ruling party responsible if Georgia fails to obtain EU candidate status.
To the question - If Georgia is unsuccessful in achieving EU candidate status, who will be responsible for the outcome? - the answers are as follows:
64% - Government of Georgia/ruling party;
8% - opposition parties;
6% - European Union;
2% - Russia's war in Ukraine;
1% - Civil society organizations;
3% - Other;
17% - Don't know/No answer.
The survey was conducted on behalf of IRI’s Center for Insights in Survey Research by Dr. Rasa Alisauskiene of the public and market research company Baltic Surveys/The Gallup Organization between September 13 and October 2, 2022. The fieldwork was conducted by the Institute of Polling and Marketing. Data was collected through face-to-face interviews in respondents’ homes. The sample consists of 1,500 Georgians aged 18+ and eligible to vote. The data was weighted for age, gender, region, and settlement size. The margin of error is plus or minus 2.5 percent, and the response rate was 74 percent. The survey was made possible by the generous support of the American people through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
