"The European Parliament condemns the personal role played by Bidzina Ivanishvili, Georgia's sole oligarch, in the current political crisis and in another attempt to derail the course of a Western-oriented country in favor of turning to Russia, once again calls on the Council and the EU's democratic partners to consider imposing personal sanctions on Ivanishvili for his role in the deterioration of the political process in Georgia and for working against the interests of his people.

The European Parliament once again reiterates its call to the Council to consider imposing sanctions on Bidzina Ivanishvili, the honorary leader of the "Georgian Dream" party; calls on the Commission to condition all financial assistance to Georgia on the condition of removing this law from the legal agenda of Georgia, in case of its adoption", - it is noted in the text of the amendment of the resolution.

"The European Parliament calls on the Government of Georgia to uphold its commitment to the promotion of democracy, the rule of law and human rights and urges it to adopt and implement reforms that are consistent with its stated goal of joining the European Union, as demanded by the vast majority of the Georgian population. In this regard, the European Parliament reiterates its call to the Georgian authorities to release former President Mikheil Saakashvili on humanitarian grounds and allow him to receive proper treatment abroad; "The European Parliament emphasizes that its case further underlines the importance of implementing a real reform of the justice system," the document states.

The amendment approved by the European Parliament also talks about the draft law on LGBTQ+.

"The Georgian government recently announced its intention to introduce a bill that would criminalize the promotion of same-sex relationships, similar to Russia's "LGBTQ+ propaganda" rules; The European Parliament calls on the "Georgian Dream" majority to immediately repeal this law and the law that restricts LGBTQ+ rights, stop all attacks on civil society and independent media, and provide a real supportive environment for civil society and media in the country," the document states.
