13.02.24 10:35

Maia Omiadze, the Head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration, on Monday told Imedi TV the country’s tourism had achieved “record-high” revenue in 2023, with the number exceeding $4 billion.

Omiadze said the year had marked a 76 percent recovery in international visitor numbers compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019, with more than 2.6 million international travellers visiting the country.

When we talk about strategy, these are diversified markets, because we are not focused on just one country due to challenges arising in the [wider] region”, she said.

The GNTA Head added the strategic target markets offered the chance to draw a “large number” of foreign visitors, adding the approach had been the “main formula” to make the past year’s results successful.
