In 2022-2023, a total of 17,394 persons violated the rules for the stay of foreigners and stateless persons in Georgia, as well as their transit through the territory of Georgia. Of these, 7,937 people violated the rule of staying in Georgia and traveling in transit in 2022, and according to the preliminary data of 2023, this figure amounted to 9,457.
In addition, for two years, a fine of 180 GEL provided by the first paragraph of Article 191 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which is determined for the stay of a foreigner or stateless person on the territory of Georgia during the period from the expiration of the period of legal stay to 3 months, was imposed on 6250 people, 3665 only in 2023. Meanwhile, a 360 GEL fine was imposed on 11,144 people over two years, 5,792 of them in 2023.
On the website of the Government Commission on Migration, we read that a foreigner who has expired the period of legal stay in Georgia and leaves the country voluntarily is obliged to pay the fine established by the legislation of Georgia before or after leaving Georgia (the amount of the fine is 180 GEL within 3 months after the expiration of the period of legal stay, and When staying for more than 3 months - 360 GEL). In case of non-payment of the fine, the foreigner will not be issued a Georgian visa and he will be denied entry to Georgia until he pays the said fine. A foreigner who has been forcibly deported, along with a fine, will be prohibited from entering Georgia for a period of 2 to 5 years.
