According to one of the leaders of "Lelo", Davit Usupashvili, the draft law on "transparency of the influence of foreign power" refers not only to domestic political relations, but also to international relations, since it is about financing from foreign powers, that is, from other states.
As he mentioned at the meeting of the Committee on Legal Affairs, the purpose of this law is to introduce some principled innovations in the field of international relations, which have become the subject of the international community's attention.
"I think we agree that this law, based on its purpose and field of action, concerns not only the internal political, public, life and relations of the country, but also international relations, since we are talking about financing from foreign powers, that is, from other states. Accordingly, the purpose of this law is to introduce some principled innovations in the field of our international relations. Based on the fact that the law itself refers to the cases when the source of funding is a foreign state, and secondly, if these states give more than 20% to any organization in one year, they are declared together with the recipients here as organizations or states operating in Georgia to pursue their interests. Through local organizations, according to any other qualifying sign, they are revealed to be forces that act for their own interests in Georgia, and here they have found partners who care about nothing but their own interests. Therefore, it is clear that this law has become the subject of the international community's attention," Usupashvili said.
According to his explanation, all state bodies should contribute to this, in order to facilitate the process with the European Union. Anri Okhanashvili did not finish asking Davit Usupashvili a question and gave him a warning.
