Dmitry Medvedev: Neo-colonialism has approached the borders of our country for a long time - look at Georgia, which approved a law that the USA and the EU did not like, and what happened? Sanctions!

The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, accuses the West of trying to gain control over Russia's neighboring countries, including Georgia.

"We have to admit: neo-colonialism has approached the borders of our country for a long time. The first step in this direction was to gain control over Russia's neighbors. Among them, the instigation of "color revolutions" in Georgia and Ukraine, when the puppet regimes of M. Saakashvili, a scholarship holder of the US State Department, and V. Yushchenko, the husband of a former American official, were brought to power in Tbilisi and Kyiv. The former unleashed aggression against the people of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in August 2008, prompting an immediate and harsh response from Russia. The work of the second one was summed up by the presidential elections of 2010, in which V. Yushchenko received a little more than 5% of the vote - one of the worst results for a head of state in history," Medvedev writes in the article.

According to him, despite the "first failure", the West did not give up the "plans to enslave" Russia's neighbors, concentrated on creating its own neo-colonial platform in Ukraine, and as a result of the February 2014 coup d'état, the country completely lost its political subjectivity.

"External control was actually established over the republic, the examples of which are countless all over the world. It is obvious that now Ukraine will be freed from the neo-colonial shackles only after the completion of all the tasks of the special military operation," Medvedev wrote.

He also talked about the relations between Armenia and the West.

"Ask the people of Neobandera whether they managed to join the European Union or not. No, and they won't get it soon, or they won't get it ever. Look at Georgia, where a law was recently approved that the USA and the European Union did not like, and what happened? Sanctions! The resolution adopted by the European Parliament in March 2024 on the strengthening of relations between the European Union and Armenia is, in fact, an ordinary paper without obligations," Medvedev wrote.
