The development of Anaklia port is important and the construction works will start very soon, - the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze said in his annual report to the Parliament.

 

As the head of the government noted, the process of selecting a private partner for the port of Anaklia has already been completed.

 

"The development of Anaklia port is very important. The process of selecting a private partner has already been completed. The proposal was submitted by the Sino-Singaporean consortium, and an agreement will be signed soon, according to which the state will retain 51 percent of the shares, while the consortium will have 49 percent. A tender was also held according to the rules of the World Bank, and the construction works will start very soon. The investment volume of the first phase is 600 million dollars. "After the completion of the first phase, the port will handle 600,000 containers, which means approximately 7.8 million tons of cargo," said the Prime Minister.
